App Pool and Windows Server 2008

description

From my testing, the app pool task does not work with Windows Server 2008 from a Windows Server 2003 box. When I run the following simple test from a 2003 box against a 2008 box, it always returns false, even if the app pool does exist.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Project DefaultTargets="DesktopBuild" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="3.5">
<Import Project="d:\TB\Tools\Microsoft.Sdc.Common.tasks" />
<Import Project="d:\TB\Tools\TeamBuild.Properties.targets" />

<Target Name="DesktopBuild">

    <Web.AppPool.Exists MachineName="win2008srv"
        AppPoolName="BLF-Dev">
        <Output TaskParameter="DoesExist" PropertyName="AppPoolExists"/>
    </Web.AppPool.Exists>

<Message Text="The value returned was: $(AppPoolExists)" />
    </Target>
</Project>

it appears to work from windows 2008 to windows 2008 -- is this because 2003 can't see 2008 pools?

There is currently no support for iis7 in the library. As you are on 3.5, you can try the MSBuild Extension Pack which supports IIs7.
